You can teach an old dog new tricks!

Just the other week I learned how to make lamps from empty gin bottles! Taking place at Gin71 in Merchant City, Glasgow,  the Sunday morning course was so much fun. Starting with coffee and scones and ending with gin and sandwiches with crafting and creativity in between, it was a perfect way to spend a Sunday morning in January.

I would say the most difficult part of the day was deciding which gin bottle to use. I had already been extremely indecisive and had taken along three different fabrics. Finally I settled on a bottle which went well with my favourite fabric and the fun began! Ninety minutes later my lampshade was finished and my first gin bottle lamp was complete.

I think I may have been bitten by the lamp making bug though, as only a few days later I decided to try my hand at making another one. My poor friends and family will be inundated with lamps for their homes.

Love Gin Lamp

So, that was me learning something new and I can honestly say it was really enjoyable. I would definitely recommend giving it a go if you feel like trying something different.

I just need to arrange that my next trip to Gin71 is to visit the Gin Spa, although that may have to wait until after Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. I’m pretty sure I will need some relaxing time after these manic days are over.

Happy New Year!

So, now that the festive season is over it’s time to get back to some sort of normality. Although I’m not quite sure what that is yet, but I’ll be sure to let you know once I found out.

I’m glad to say our little gin collection grew over the festive period with a few new additions. Joining the others is Hoxton, a beautiful cocktail set that includes Edinburgh Gin and possibly my favourite, Gin Bothy Raspberry infused gin. A measure of Gin Bothy topped up with a little prosecco is to die for!

All these gin bottles will come in useful for the course I am attending next week where I will be learning how to make lamps out of empty gin bottles! Any excuse for a G&T of course.

Our little collection is growing

Hello and Welcome!

First of all, thank you very much for clicking on my website/blog thingy. As you’ve probably guessed by now this is my first attempt at writing a blog, it was also my first attempt at building a website to promote my new business. Whoever said building a website was a piece of cake was telling me lies. I have a whole new respect for those who make a career from it.

I have dreamed for countless years of starting my own business. It was only after a rather unexpected change in circumstances this year that it finally came to fruition. So I have decided to use this blog for a number of things, which includes but is not limited to promoting my beautiful flowers, taking you on my journey as I build my business and letting you know of any new and tasty gins I may have tried or purchased!

I promise to try not to bore you too much!
